DC Insulation Monitor ARL-ISM-200

The DC Insulation Monitor ARL-ISM-200 is a highly accurate and secure online insulation monitoring system designed specifically for DC circuits. It provides quick detection of different types of DC current leakage, including DC ground fault, insulation decreasing, AC signal invasion, and DC signal invasion. The system is easily expandable to monitor more circuit branches with flexible connection to current sensors.

System Composition:

The whole DC Insulation Monitor ARL-ISM-200 system is composed of three essential components:

1. Control Machine (MCM)

• Function: It is the control unit of the whole system, handling display and parameter setting.
• Connection: MCM is fixed on the power supply panel.
• Power supply: 85-300V from AC mains or DC.
• Dimension: 48.4 * 20.2 * 12.9cm.
• Weight: 2402g.

1. Data Acquisition Module (DAM)

• Function: Monitors current status for the circuits connected.
• Connection: DAM unit is connected between the MCM and CT with a flexible installation location.
• Power supply: 12V powered by the MCM.
• Dimension: 17 * 11.2 * 2.5cm.
• Weight: 253g.

1. DC Current Sensor (CT)

• Function: Monitors current status for each circuit.
• Connection: CT is connected at the outlet circuit of each DC.
• Power supply: 10mA, 25mA and  100mA.
• Resolution: 0.1mA.
• Accuracy: 0.1%.

Functions:

Monitor of AC & DC Voltage

• MCM displays voltage between busbars (negative and positive) and ground.
• It also measures voltage for AC signal interruption.
• When system voltage exceeds the setting threshold or AC voltage exceeds the setting value, warning info is sent out with an LED indicator and buzzer.
• Warning info can be sent to an automation system via RS485 connection.

Insulation Monitor

• MCM will monitor and display grounding resistance between busbars and ground in real time.
• When system voltage is unbalanced and unbalanced voltage exceeds the setting value, a warning info is there.

Current Diagnosis

• Current sensors on each DAM and measured current values are transferred to the MCM.
• This helps technicians gain comprehensive knowledge of the DC system’s status and quickly eliminate malfunction timely.

Early Warning for Insulation Problems

• MCM has high accurate measurement of up to 500KΩ.
• It monitors long-time trending for grounding resistance between circuit and ground.
• This tendency provides early warning before a ground fault happens, which is very helpful for preventative maintenance.

Historical Record Playback

• The record includes time of AC interference & grounding, grounding resistance, interference voltage, grounding circuit, and so on.
• It records up to 1000 events.

Voltage Balance

• When the ratio of voltage values (positive-ground and negative-ground) exceeds a protection index of 1.222, the system uses compensation bridge to balance the voltage values of both busbars to ground.
• In other words, the ratio of positive-ground voltage and negative-ground voltage will become higher than 0.869.
• Or the ratio of negative-ground voltage and positive-ground voltage will be lower than 1.150.

Battery Circuit Monitor

• This monitoring system will monitor insulation/grounding status of the battery circuit in real time with the help of a data recorder and current clamps.

Measurement of Distributed Capacitance

• It can measure values of distributed capacitance for the tested DC system.
